DAV Public School celebrates Annual Sports Day

Amritsar, Feb. 20 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The school playground of DAV Public School, Lawrence Road was filled with great zeal and excitement  as Std IV held its Annual Sports Day. The whole playground was decorated with flags, buntings and balloons. Almost 430 students participated in the event. Mr. Pardeep Sabharwal, Deputy Commissioner Tarn Taran was the Chief Guest of the function. The programme began with the hoisting of the flag by the Chief Guest, Mr. Pardeep Sabharwal. He addressed the students and emphasised the importance of sports in a child’s life and also urged that they should learn to accept both victory and defeat  with grace. After that he declared the sports meet open. Children released the balloons in the air to mark the expression of joy and rejoicement.

                 A well synchronized March Post was held by the students whichwas followed by a melodious inspirational song expressing dream of the youth.The students displayed a wide array of colourful and reverberant events such as yoga, aerobics, races, drills, tug of war etc. It was a mass student participation which splattered on the field lots of cheering and vibrance. Prizes were awarded to the winners by the Principal of the school and the sector incharge of Std – V.

               Principal of the school Dr. Neera Sharma applauded the efforts of the students and the teachers for making the event a great success. Regional Director Punjab Zone – A Dr. Neelam Kamra and the Manager of the school Dr. Rajesh Kumar sent their blessings to the students and emphasises that such events enhance mental and physical development, as well as social skills and even help in improving academic performance.
