4th day of DST Sponsored INSPIRE Science Camp

PPN0710201810Amritsar, Oct. 7 (Punjab Post Bureau) –  On the fourth day of the DST (Department of Science and Technology) sponsored science camp INSPIRE DAV College observed a series of intellectual lectures. DAV College holds pride and privilege for organizing science INSPIRE camp which provides a unique platform for exchange of knowledge, sharing of experience and to nurture the curiosity of the students in Sciences. About 230 students from different schools from Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Batala, Beas, Attari and Amritsar participated in the camp.

Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Principal DAV College Amritsar and Dr. Rupinder Kaur Coordinator of INSPIRE extended a floral welcome to the experts during the event. Speaking on the occasion Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar said that it is important to inspire young people to be Science and Technology leaders, so that India can develop as the growth engine of the world. He motivated students to participate in such camps as this will help them inculcate the scientific temperament and understanding of sciences among them. He also encouraged them for developing the skill of Questioning and Quality of inquisitiveness among them as it will be very helpful for them in learning new things around them.

Speaking on the occasion Dr. Rupinder Kaur, Co-ordinator of the Camp delivered a welcome message and said that Science is extremely important in our daily lives. The objectives of INSPIRE is to provide platform for sharing knowledge, developing creativity and imagination through science and help the students to become better learners and carry on learning science.

During the first session, Dr Rajendra K Sharma, Professor &Former Head Department of Mathematics, IIT Delhi talked about the concept of encryption and its importance for Cyber security. He also added that Encryption is important because it allows to securely protecting data that we don’t want anyone else to have access to. He also briefed about concept of how to study maths and get its better understanding.

During the second session Prem Singh, State & National Awardee (DST), lecturer Physics, GSSS, Patto Heera Singh,Moga  performed various experiments on topics like Angular momentum, pressure principles, electromagnetic waves etc to allow students to ask questions, probe for answers and to investigative nature of scientific learning.

The event observed an introduction to the practical sessions where the students participating in the event performed the practicals in the Biology, Zoology and Physics laboratories in order to make students understand the concepts in a better manner. Dr. Rupinder Kaur Programme Coordinator, Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Assistant Programme Coordinator, Dr. Daizy Sharma, Prof R.K Jha  Dr. Rajni Khanna, Dr. Anita Mahajan, Prof. Sameer Kalia, Dr. Vikas Gupta were also present on the occasion.
