MYAS-GNDU Dept. of Sports Sciences & Medicine organizes Anti-Doping workshop

Amritsar, Nov. 6 ( Punjab Post Bureau) –  The MYAS-GNDU Department of Sports Sciences and Medicine conducted a One day Workshop on “Anti-Doping Awareness”. The speaker for the workshop was “Dr. Alka Beotra, Risk and Quality Director, Anti Doping Lab, Doha (Qatar). She was former Scientific Director, National Dope Testing Laboratory, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports (MYAS), Government of India, New Delhi. The topics covered included History of Doping, Class of drugs prohibited for use in sports, its effects and side effects, drug testing in accredited labs, sample collection procedure, the WADA code, nutritional supplements and therapeutic use exemption. The faculty and students were benefited by the updated information which was taught and shared to them. The workshop concluded by vote of thanks by Dr. (Prof.) Shweta Shenoy, Dean & Head, MYAS-GNDU Department of Sports Sciences and Medicine, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.
