Chhina Meet Jaitley thanks him and Centre for Kartarpur Corridor

Amritsar, Nov. 25 (Punjab Post Bureau) – BJP senior leader Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina today met Union Finance PUNJ2511201806Minister Arun Jaitley in Delhi and thanked him and the NDA government in the Centre for the initiative to open up Kartarpur Corridor on the eve of 550th `Parkash Purab’ of Sikhism’s founder Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The two leaders also discussed various issues including upcoming foundation laying ceremony of the Corridor at Dera Babk Nanak in Gurdaspur district and modalities for the free passage of the pilgrims to `holy shrine’ in Pakistan where Guru Nanak spent last years of his life.

Jaitley told Chhina that the Modi government feel blessed to take the initiative in this regard even though the previous UPA government had turned down such a proposal earlier. Jaitley had himself visited the Indian side of the border and had glimpses of the Gurdwara inside Pakistan territory in 2016 when he also held the portfolio of Union Defence Minister. Chhina also discussed the problems of farmers near the border with Jaitley.

Chhina reportedly told Jaitley to pay a visit to the area once again during some of his upcoming visit to Punjab. He said the Modi government has fulfilled the long pending demand of the Sikhs for paying the obeisance at the Pak Gurdwara which is considered one of the holiest of the holy places by the followers of Guru Nanak world over. He also said that the Sikhs pray daily for the free visits to pay obeisance at the shrines in Pakistan.
