Shaheed Bhagat Singh Sewa Dal staged protest against “Government of Pakistan”

New Delhi, Dec. 12 (Punjab post Bureau) – NGO Shaheed Bhagat Singh Sewa Dal (SBS Foundation) organised a PUNJ1212201805major protest against the Government of Pakistan on “International Human Rights Day- 2018,”. Volunteers of the Organisation marched towards the High Commission of Pakistan New Delhi demanding the Government of Pakistan for Justice, freedom and protection of Human Rights of Sikhs and other minorities in their Nation. Post the demonstration, a five people delegation of the NGO, spearheaded by its Founder Jitender Singh Shunty, NGO’s President, Hanuman Lakhotia, Smt. Manjeet Kaur Shunty (President of NGO’s Women’s Wing), Ravinder Singh Lovely (Convenor, Minority Cell), Sukhwinder Singh Babbar (Convenor, Youth Wing), Raja Hashmi (Convenor Minority Cell) met the Officials at the High Commission of Pakistan, New Delhi and handed over the official appeal in the name of the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan and a supporting docket of the incidents, citing the atrocities being brutally made over the Sikhs and other Minorities, residing in Pakistan, hence demanding an immediate resolution of the same.

A copy of the same appeal Letter was also submitted with the United Nations, at their New Delhi Office and to The President of India, The Prime Minister of India, in his office, The Home Minister of India and Minister of External Affairs of India. The Volunteers in the protest carried the placards, flash cards and banners, with stern and moving messages such as “Save Human Rights”, “Stop Forced Conversion”, “Save Sikh Girls”, “Stop Harassing Sikhs in Pakistan”, “Don’t Grab Gurudwara Land”, “Stop Distorting Sikh History”, etc.

The NGO also reminded of more such incidences in their letter. Like of one Gulab Singh, who happens to be a Sikh Police Officer in Pakistan was targeted and forcefully evicted from his house along with his family for fighting to protect Gurdwara land. His turban was also removed and his articles of faith were intentionally disrespected in the incident which took place in July 2018. The NGO also showed its concern upon Non representation of Sikhs and other Minorities in National and Provincial Assembly since creation of Pakistan, leading to to suppression or Human rights of Sikh and other minorities.

“Where on one side, Pakistan opens up the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor on the other side, it continues the brutalities on its own Minority communities, especially Sikhs. What is more surprising is their least concerned attitude in regards to the seriousness of the crimes. Guru Nanak Dev Ji was one Prophet who himself believed in equality and Human Rights. Pakistan must consider itself lucky to have been blessed by presence of Guru Nanak Dev Ji on its land and must let its people, who believe in the teachings of Guru Nanak, follow the path he showed.

On this International Human Rights Day, we have come here to appeal to the Government of Pakistan and their Prime Minister to stop the discrimination and treat all the citizens of Pakistan, including Minorities, equally, and stop the Hate Crimes against them. We have also approached United Nations in this regard and the Honorable President & Prime Minister of India and hope that Humanity will prevail in the end.” Said Sardar Jitender Singh Shunty Founder of the NGO.
