Amritsar, January 9 (Punjab Post Bureau) – A seven day NSS camp was organized by the NSS Department of D.A.V College Amritsar. Kamaldeep Singh Sangha Deputy Commissioner inaugurated the camp. Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar along with NSS Team comprising of Dr. Ritu Arora (Incharge NSS), Prof. Loveleen Kaur, Prof. Vikas Behl, Dr. Gaurav Sharma extended a warm welcome to the chief guest.
Dr. Ritu Arora introduced the guest to the audience and put up a day to day programme of the event to be organized during the week. Principal congratulated NSS Department on conducting seven day camp and highlighted the significance of NSS for the upliftment of the society. Prof Loveleen Kaur invited the chief guest to deliver his inaugural address.
Deputy Commissioner in his inaugural address cum interactive session with NSS volunteers touched various sensitive issues connected with the society .Students whole heartedly exchanged their views and desires to eradicate the prevailing social evils like drug abuse, wastage of water ,cleanliness ,traffic awareness ,environmental issues .
Chief Guest motivated the students to develop integrity, loyality and to use their voting rights rationally. Sangha insisted criticism should be replaced with reformation. Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar also encouraged the volunteers and motivated to keep up their efforts in future.
Voters Registration forms of various prospective voters were filled on the spot by election Kanungo Deepak Mohan and Superintendent Local Bodies Dinesh Suri. During the camp Deputy Commissioner flagged of Swachta Rally which toured along the college vicinity.
On the second day of the camp Drawing and poster making competition was held on theme depicting Socio–Economic Problems of the society. The second session of the camp included presentation by the Paramjeet Singh, Sub Inspector Incharge and Salwant Singh Head Constable briefly explicated the students about various traffic rules to be followed for safe driving. Prof. Loveleen Kaur, Prof. Vikas Behl, Dr. Gaurav Sharma were present during the camp.
