CHETAK CORPS CELEBRATES VETERANS DAY

Jalandhar, Jan. 13 (Punjab Post Bureau)  – To honour the contributions of the ex-servicemen, Veterans Day was PUNJ1301201905celebrated today under the aegis of the Chetak Corps. Around 400 ex-servicemen from Bathinda, Mansa, Talwandi Sabo, Bakhta Bhai and Rampura Phool attended the functions. Among the important dignitaries present during the function were Major General Mohinder Singh, Vishist Seva Medal, Lieutenant Colonel (Dr) GPI Singh (Retired) Vice Chancellor, Aadesh Medical College and Colonel BS Dhaliwal (Retired) Ex Vice Chancellor, Guru Kashi University, Olympian  Major Baldev Singh.

Wreath lying was conducted at “Yodha Yaadgar” to pay tributes to the Martyrs. The General Officer Commanding, Chetak Corps addressed the gathering and reassured the veterans in clear terms about the Indian Army’s commitment to the well being of the veterans, widows and their dependents. He expressed his profound gratitude for their priceless sacrifices and selfless contribution towards upholding the rich heritage & tradition of the Indian Army and assured them of all possible assistance in the days to come.

During the lunch, one could see the bonhomie and camaraderie being rekindled amongst the veterans and the serving officers as they shared their experiences. The conduct was appreciated by all veterans who extended their gratitude to the Chetak Corps for the concerted effort in organising the event and for providing them with an opportunity to share their experiences and grievances.
