State level Sweep Coordination Committee constituted

 Chandigarh, March 14 (Punjab Post Bureau) – To sensitize general public regarding election process in view of the Votes1parliamentary elections 2019, the Chief Electoral Office, Punjab today constituted a State Level SWEEP Coordination Committee.

            The committee, comprising Director General School Education, Director Technical Education, Director Local Government, Director Rural Development and Panchayats, Director e-Governance Society, Punjab, Director Social Security Woman and Child Development, Director Information & Public Relations, Director Youth services, Director Sports, Director Cultural Affairs, Director Health and Family Welfare, DPI (Colleges), DPI (Secondary) and DPI (Elementary), held its first meeting under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab Mrs. Kavita Singh.

            Addressing the meeting, Mrs. Singh said that objective of the formation of the committee is to aware the voters about the Systematic Voter Education and Voter Participation (SWEEP), registration as voter, ethical voting and working of EVM/VV-Pat machines and C-VIGIL mobile application etc. She exhorted the committee members to assist in this voter awareness campaign through their departments so that 100 per cent voting target could be achieved in the state of Punjab.

          Additional CEO said that the Coordination Committee should aware all eligible voters about the facilities being provided to them by the Election Commission of India. Besides this, the voters should be sensitized to check their name in voter lists, about National Voters Service Portal, online registration arrangements, official portal of the Office of the CEO, Punjab, toll-free helpline number 1950, electronic photo I card (EPIC), SMS system and facilities provided to People with Disabilities (PwDs).
