Relief Material Despatched For J & K

Amritsar, Sept. 13 ( Punjab Post Bureau)-  Responding instantly to the to the appeal by Chief Minister Punjab, Mr.Parkash Singh Badal, to extend a helping hand to the beleaguered brotheren in Kashmir, district administration dispatches relief material to J&K. Giving details, Mr.Ravi Bhagat Deputy Commissioner informed that 1lac 20 thousand food packets containing cooked food, 2700 blankets and 35 Quintals of dry ration including milk and water have been air flown to J&K via two IAF planes. Apart from this, nearly 26000 food packets containing 125000 pranthas have already been dispatched from Amritsar yesterday through a special IAF plane.

Mr. Bhagat informed that to facilitate all possible assistance, round the clock operational control room has been set up in the district with telephone lines 0183-2226161 and 2226262. Mr. Rohit Gupta, SDM Baba Bakala has been designated as the nodal officer to supervise and coordinate all the relief activities and to ensure timely and safe air lifting of relief material to the J&K. Expressing solidarity with the people of J&K in their hour of crisis, Deputy Commissioner assured all possible help and support and appealed various voluntary, social and religious organizations to pool in with liberal help. He appealed to the people of Amritsar to donate generously for this noble cause as the Punjabis were known for magnanimity and called upon them to demonstrate their all pervasive spirit of charity.
