Board to celebrate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas

New Delhi, Oct. 28 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will be celebrating the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) on 31st October 2014. Marking the day as to maintain unity and integrity of the country, the Board has planned mass activities wherein students from all over the country irrespective of any education board can take part enthusiastically.

               CBSE visualizes an all-round development through different activities that will enable students to convey the message of importance of unity in sustaining any work.  Almost 350 selected centres will be involved in spreading the message by inviting students from their schools on pan India basis. Several activities will be organised such as – Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Pledge; Run for Unity; posters, jingles, paintings and collage making; team debates, etc. An online quiz based on Sardar Patel’s life and contribution will also be held in 100 other centres for Rashtriya Ekta Diwas at 1030 hours on 31st October 2014.

                   Mass activities as organized by CBSE will run on two basic themes, “Unity and Integrity” and “Safety and Security”.  Unity and Integrity will be based on unifying languages, rivers, customs, traditions and events such as festivals, National symbols, connection between individual effort and national growth etc whereas the theme of Safety and Security will be based on ideas such as contribution of various constituents highlighting the story of courage and excellence, ensuring safe environment for all, online safety measures etc.

                        Commemorating Sardar Patel’s birth anniversary, CBSE Chairman, Shri Vineet Joshi said, “With due respect to the Iron man of India Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, CBSE expects a large number of centres throughout the country to motivate everyone to maintain the unity and integrity of the country.  We need to inculcate the spirit of Unity, Integrity, Safety and Security amongst all our children in the schooling years so that every child appreciates these values in their life.”

                  This occasion provides us an opportunity to reaffirm the inherent strength and resilience of our nation to withstand the actual and potential threats to the unity, integrity and security of our country. CBSE has also appointed 250 Centre Co-coordinators in schools across India. The list is uploaded on www.cbseacademic.in and on the Facebook page. In each centre 400 – 500  students from the neighbourhood schools will be collecting together on the 31st October 2014 for other mass activities.

                        CBSE appeals every student of this country to participate in this Ekta Diwas to pay rich tributes to the “real national hero”.
