Govt interference in religious affairs of Sikhs is not good for country- SGPC members

Says, Congress planted seed of separate Haryana Gurdwara Committee, but BJP watered it

Amritsar, September 24 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee members said on Saturday that the way governments are suppressing the minorities and interfering in their religious affairs, the country may suffer big loss. They said that with this phenomenon, the atmosphere of distrust in the country is increasing rapidly.

This was said by SGPC members Bhai Rajinder Singh Mehtra, Surjit Singh Bhittewad, former general secretary Advocate Bhagwant Singh Sialka, executive committee member Harjap Singh Sultanwind, Amarjit Singh Bandala, Jodh Singh Samra, Bhai Ram Singh, Mangwinder Singh Khaparkheri and Bawa Singh Gumanpura.

Amritsar related SGPC members in their joint statement said that while Congress class caused great loss to Sikhs, BJP government at the Centre is also trying to suppress minorities living in the country under the ideology of Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS). Under this ideology, the government is directly interfering in religious affairs of minorities, due to which, the minority communities are feeling insecure.

SGPC members said that after the partition of the country, Congress party government made continuous efforts to divide Sikhs. Separate Haryana Gurdwara Management Act, 2014, passed during Bhupinder Singh Hooda government is also out of Congress’s intention to divide Sikhs, and the BJP also left no stone unturned for attempts to recognise it.

They said some Sikh faces are also involved in the conspiracy of breaking the Sikh body, SGPC, who have tools for anti-Panth forces for their little means.

SGPC members said that the representative institution of Sikhs, SGPC, has come into existence after great sacrifices and the Sikhs will not back down for the struggle against the plans to break this body. They said if the Haryana government attempted to forcibly take over management of Gurdwara Sahibs in the state, the results would not be good.
