SGPC President strongly condemns disrespect of Kes & Kakaars of Sikh youth in Bijnor

Amritsar, December 31 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Harjinder Singh Dhami has strongly condemned the incident of disrespect of Kes (unshorn hair) and Kakaars (Sikh symbols of faith) of a Sikh youth in Champatpur village in Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh (UP). He said it is unfortunate that excesses are being committed against minority Sikhs in the country.

He said the incident at Champatpur village has seriously hurt the Sikh psyche and strict action should be taken against the accused persons. SGPC President appealed to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to immediately intervene in this case and instruct the local police administration to take strict action against the culprits.

SGPC President also asked the National Commission for Minorities of India to make serious efforts to ensure action in such cases.

Advocate Dhami said that the Sikhs have made great sacrifices for the country, but the situation today is that the religious beliefs of Sikhs are being hurt. He said that some people with communal thinking are trying to create divisions in communities. It is even sadder that such phenomenon is happening in the name of religious conversion. He said that this thinking and behavior is not in the interest of the country.

He said that the investigation of this case has been assigned to in-charge of the SGPC’s Sikh Mission, Uttarakhand, who will submit a report of this entire incident. He said that the Sikh body SGPC stands with the victim’s family at all levels and will leave no stone unturned to ensure strict punishment to the accused persons.
