Lohri, Makar Sankranti & Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekanand ji Celebrated at DAV Public School

Amritsar, January 15 (Punjab Post Bureau) – DAV Public School Lawrence Road organised a special assembly on the occasion of Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekanand ji, Lohri and Makar Sankranti.

The students of the school paid rich tribute to one of India’s most revered spiritual leaders Swami Vivekanand ji. They highlighted his contribution towards the nation and also spoke about his ideals, values and ideology. On this occasion students sang inspirational song, recited poems and performed a skit on the life of Swami ji. Remembering his words, Arise, Awake and Stop not till the goal is reached, the students took a pledge to serve their nation with the same conviction and sincerity.

To commemorate the National Youth Day two officers of 12 PB Air SQN.NCC Amritsar JWO Mr.R.K Sharma and JWO Mr. Laxman Singh were present on the occasion. NCC cadets of the school enacted a role play on the theme, ‘I have no fear’ aiming to  educate young people to bring positive changes in society.

The students also gave a brief introduction of the historical and cultural facts and events related to Lohri and Makar Sankranti. They presented Lohri songs and poems totally absorbed in festive spirit. Bonfire was lit and the students and staff members offered their prayers for the prosperity  of the nation. The students also gave the message of rejoicing the birth of a girl child.

Regional Officer Punjab Zone A Dr. Neelam Kamra and the Manager of the school Dr. Pushpinder Walia conveyed their blessings and greetings to the students and staff and advised them to draw inspiration from the teachings of Swami Vivekanand ji and work for the welfare of the society.

Dr. Pallavi Sethi Principal of the school extended her heartiest wishes to the students and staff. She encouraged the students to value their cultural heritage and imbibe good moral values. She urged that they should make efforts to improve themselves and lead a simple and righteous life.
