Women Empowerment Initiative at Ferozepur Cantt

Jalandhar, April 21 (Punjab Post Bureau) – PPN2104201703The Golden Arrow Division has recently initiated a project for empowerment of spouses and children of soldiers serving at the Ferozepur Cantt. Mrs. Chanda Kundra, Chairperson, Golden Arrow, Family Welfare Organisation, who is spearheading this endeavour named as ‘Project Shakti’, aims at fulfilling the Army’s societal obligations through result oriented, genuine social empowerment and vocational skill building of spouses of Army personnel. As a pilot project of ‘Project Shakti’, volunteer women were encouraged to take up production and sales of block printed items like bed sheets, table lines, stoles, sarees etc. The production of block printed items has commenced on 13th April 2017. The ‘Project Shakti’ will also encourage others to take up similar projects aimed at financial independence of spouses of soldiers. The Golden Arrow Vocational Training Centre has also initiated ‘Project Pragati’, aimed at the career growth of children of soldiers serving at Ferozepur Cantt, by providing career counseling and subsidized tuition classes for weak students of Classes Xth to XIIth.

 

The Golden Arrow Vocational Training Centre is also running courses like Nursery Teachers Training, IT Awareness Course, Beautician’s Course, Fashion Designing etc to develop vocational skills and generate employment opportunities for the spouses of soldiers in Ferozepur Cantt. These ventures have immensely benefitted the women and children of soldiers serving at Ferozepur Cantt and have received wide support from the Army fraternity.
