Vajra Corps celebrated the 70<sup>th<\/sup> Infantry Day with traditional solemnity <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-109133\" src=\"https:\/\/punjabpost.in\/welcome\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/PPN2710201701.jpg\" alt=\"PPN2710201701\" width=\"900\" height=\"455\" srcset=\"https:\/\/punjabpost.in\/welcome\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/PPN2710201701.jpg 900w, https:\/\/punjabpost.in\/welcome\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/PPN2710201701-300x152.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/>and gaiety on 27 Oct 2017.\u00a0 Major General Balwinder Singh, Chief of Staff \u00a0Vajra Corps, laid wreath at `Vajra Shaurya Sthal\u2019 in Jalandhar and paid homage to the fallen heroes.\u00a0 Apart from the serving officers of the station, all Infantry veterans of Jalandhar station were also present on the occasion.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 October 27 is celebrated as Infantry Day by the Indian Army as it was on this day in 1947, that an Infantry Company of the First Battalion of \u00a0The Sikh Regiment was airlifted from Delhi to Srinagar to liberate Kashmir from the invading tribals who were supported by Pakistan Army.\u00a0 It was also first time that India as a Independent nation was engaged in operations against an aggression.\u00a0 The swift move of Indian army ensured that Jammu &amp;
