Feb. 9 (Punjab Post Bureau) &#8211;\u00a0\u200bIn its\u00a0\u00a0Meeting held on 18<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0January, 2018, the GST Council had <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-81577\" src=\"https:\/\/punjabpost.in\/welcome\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/GST-Taxes.jpg\" alt=\"gst-taxes\" width=\"460\" height=\"202\" srcset=\"https:\/\/punjabpost.in\/welcome\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/GST-Taxes.jpg 460w, https:\/\/punjabpost.in\/welcome\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/GST-Taxes-300x132.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 460px) 100vw, 460px\" \/>recommended reduction of GST rate on services by way of admission to Amusement Parks including theme parks, water parks, joy rides, merry-go-rounds, go-carting and ballet from 28% to 18%. These services hitherto attracted GST @ 28%.\u00a0Requests were received from several quarters that amusement parks promote social wellness and beget fun and learning for children and their families in a real active entertainment and therefore, the rate may be reduced to 18%.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The notifications giving effect to these recommendations of the Council have been issued on 25<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0January, 2018. Accordingly, admission to amusement parks including theme parks, water parks, joy rides, merry-go-rounds, go-carting and ballet is now taxable at the lower rate of 18%. It is expected and hoped that\u00a0States do not raise the tax on entertainment and amusement levied by\u00a0the local authorities (Panchayats\/ Municipalities\/ District Councils) so as to increase the tax burden on the amusement parks.\u00a0\u00a0This will ensure that the rate cut in GST is passed on to the children and families.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New Delhi.
