The Vajra Corps celebrated its 69th Raising Day today.\u00a0 To <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-117895\" src=\"https:\/\/punjabpost.in\/welcome\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/PPN0103201819.jpg\" alt=\"PPN0103201819\" width=\"800\" height=\"417\" srcset=\"https:\/\/punjabpost.in\/welcome\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/PPN0103201819.jpg 800w, https:\/\/punjabpost.in\/welcome\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/PPN0103201819-300x156.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/>mark the occasion Lt Gen Dushyant Singh, General Officer Commanding Vajra Corps laid a wreath and paid homage at Vajra Shaurya Sthal to the martyrs of Vajra Corps.\u00a0The ceremony was attended by the serving personnel and veterans.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Vajra Corps was the first Corps raised in India after independence in 1950 by\u00a0Lt Gen Kalwant Singh at Ambala.\u00a0 The Vajra Corps Headquarters was relocated at Jalandhar in 1951 and the Corps has proved its mettle on the strategic Western Front in Various wars and achieved its objectives with elan and vigour.\u00a0The Corps witnessed some of the fiercest battles in history during the 1965 War.\u00a0 From the Graveyard of Patton Nagar to the ruins of Barki and Dograi, numerous acts of individual and collective bravery, gallant sacrifices and inspiring leadership ensured that Vajra Corps played a pivotal role in shaping the history of the nation.\u00a0 The Vajra Corps is bestowed with the Theatre Honour of \u2018Punjab\u2019 and Battle Honours of \u2018Sehjra\u2019 and Dera Baba Nanak\u2019 and is proudly identified as the \u2018Defenders of Punjab\u2019.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jalandhar, Mar. 1 (Punjab Post Bureau) &#8211;
