Amritsar, Mar. 22 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh is all set to administer oath to Punjabis under its Drug Abuse Prevention Officer (DAPO) program more than thirty thousand volunteers who have been enrolled as DAPO’ s by the Amritsar (rural) police will take oath in Amritsar on Friday. In a press conference, SSP Amritsar (Rural) Parampal Singh said, “As March 23 is being observed ad Youth Empowerment Day by the Punjab Government Lacs of persons enrolled as DAPO all over the state will take oath on Friday to fight and dedicate drug menace.” Working on this program, the Amritsar (Rural) police in its jurisdiction has enrolled more than thirty thousand volunteers as Drug Abuse Prevention Officers and this is the highest number in Punjab, SSP said. SSP Parampal Singh further told that DAPO’s will take oath at four designated places in Amritsar and this will be a big revolution to make a change. The Police official, who also reviewed the arrangements for the program said, ” People from all walks of life have been enrolled as DAPO’s and they will go to villages to educate people against the drug menace through lectures, seminars and short plays. The idea to spread a strong message against drugs and these DAPO’s will be big agents of change.” SSP Parampal Singh further told that the police will always be there to back the DAPO’s and wherever needed police can intervene. If DAPO’s bring vital inputs then police will react on such information, he added. Appealing more and more people to come forward and join this program SSP said that this program can bring a big social change and tighten the noose around the wrong doers. The SSP even motivated media persons to come forward and help the administration in making this initiative a great success. These DAPO’s will be on job immediately after taking oath and will definitely make a great impact.<\/p>\n
