Amritsar, Dec. 1 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The Amalgamation of world-cultures marked the Amritsar International Heritage Festival here today at Khalsa College Senior Secondary Boys School (KCSSS). The mesmerizing performances by Palma African Colombian artists, led by the Ms Carmen Melendez, Director of folk dance group, marked the fusion of African, Colombiano and Punjabi Folklore at the heritage campus as the audience witnessed the rare and magical- performances. Directed by Festival Director Dr. Davinder Singh Chhina, the festival organized by the school in collaboration with Punjab Cultural Promotion Council (PCPC), exhibited the fusion of African, Colombian and Punjabi folk dance and music as the dozen artists from Colombia folk dance school and hundreds of Punjabi artists from Punjab shared the stage to give gripping performances. Attired in their traditional, colorful -dresses, the artists took to the stage with full enthusiasm and won the hearts of the audience, with their foot-tapping dances and melodies.<\/p>\n
The Colombian artists gave folk presentations of Cumbia, Maple and other dances of their native country whereas the host team’s Bhangra , folk dances by Rupali, Madandeep and Radhika from Khalsa College of Education and absorbing Luddi-dance by Khalsa College Senior Secondary School {Girls}also added spark to the cultural bonanza highlighting dances and traditions of Colombia and India.<\/p>\n
Vice-Chancellor Dr. G.S Walia, Principal Dr. Inderjit Singh Gogoani, Mr. Bhupinder Singh Holland, Principal Dr. Harpreet Kaur presented the Golden Temple Photo to the Colombian Delegation as well as in-house performers of bhangra, ludhi and solo dances .The students got overwhelmed to see the mesmerizing performances of the colombians. Dr. G.S Walia applauded the hard work and dedication of faculty and students for putting up such a great show. <\/p>\n

Fest Director Davinder singh Chhina while sharing theme of this international fest, said , Such inter-cultural festivals provide opportunity for students to interact and perform together for better understanding between diverse \u2013cultures. The festival is aimed at highlighting the heritage of Amritsar city and 126 years old intangible heritage of Khalsa College, Amritsar\u201d. Khalsa School Principal Dr. Inderjit Singh Gogoani welcomed the guests and artists saying that they feel proud to host the festival. <\/p>\n

Sikh Historian S.Bhupinder Singh Holland, KCGC Council memberGurmohinder Singh, Principal Dr. Kanwaljeet Singh were as the Guests of Honor for the occasion. S Bhupinder singh Holland said that such festivals and exchange programs promote multiculturalism and international cooperation. Bhupinder Singh Holland Presented the book entitled \u201cGuru Nanak\u2019s Japuji-the celestial study\u201d written by historian Dr. Madan Gopal Yayati to Dr. Indertjit Singh Gogoani and Vc Dr. G.S Walia.<\/p>\n
