In fact, MIS procedures have become the preferred choice in gallbladder, colorectal, hernia, and bariatric surgery and indeed MIS is even making inroads into traditional bastions of open surgery such as transplant, cardiac and orthopedic procedures. Surgical training in the 21st century would be incomplete without formal teaching and structured guidance in the techniques of MIS procedures. Thus, workshops on laparoscopic surgery training will allow traditional general surgeons to practice and enhance their laparoscopic skills.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Enabling surgeons to get a firsthand experience in advanced laparoscopic procedures, a&nbsp;Skill lab (equipped with eight endotrainers) has been installed at Grecian Super Speciality Hospital in a first of its kind initiative in the region. On this occasion, the hospital&nbsp;organized a two-day workshop on Introductory Course to Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery. The workshop was attended by over 20 surgeons from across the region. The faculty included laparoscopic surgeons like Dr. Ashok&nbsp;Kumar Sharma, Dr Munish Mahajan, Dr Aranjana Manhas along with the faculty from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Dr Vivek Bindal and Dr Prem Arora.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; \u201cThe endo-trainer session in the workshop was followed by live surgeries where the delegates got the experience of witnessing advanced laparoscopic procedures. Also, during the demonstration, steps and tips &amp; tricks of laparoscopy were discussed\u201d said Dr Munish Mahajan, Surgical Oncologist.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Laparoscopic Inguinal hernia repair TEP, TAPP, Laparoscopic ventral hernia repair IPOM, Total&nbsp;Laparoscopic Hysterectomy and Diagnostic&nbsp;Laparoscopy (Oncology, Gynecology) courses were covered during workshop.&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Chandigarh, Dec 6&nbsp;(Punjab Post Bureau) &#8211; In the last 20 years, Minimally-Invasive Surgery (MIS) has expanded from its niche area to mainstream surgical specialties.
