This event was sponsored by Punjab State Council for Science and technology.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This year&#8217;s&nbsp;theme for the event was&nbsp;Wetlands&nbsp;and Climate Change. &nbsp;The main aim behind organising this event was to raise&nbsp;global&nbsp;awareness on the value of&nbsp;wetlands&nbsp;for humanity and the planet. In this competition, Approx 200 students participated enthusiastically.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Dr. Manpreet Singh Bhatti, Associate Professor and Head department of Botanical and Environmental Sciences, GNDU was the chief guest and key note speaker during the occasion.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar gave floral welcome to the guest and congratulated both the departments for organizing such intellectual events which helps students to explore their hidden talents. He also motivated the science students to participate in such competitions and to understand importance of wetlands.&nbsp;&nbsp;On this occasion prizes were also awarded&nbsp;to the&nbsp;winners by Prof Anita Mahajan, Head department of Chemistry, Prof Dr. Rajni Bala and Prof Dr. Vikas Gupta, Head department of Biotechnology.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Speaking on occasion, Dr. Manpreet Singh Bhatti talked about importance of wetlands that how vital they are for human survival. They are among the world\u2019s most productive environments; cradles of biological diversity that provide the water and productivity upon which countless species of plants and animals depend for survival.
