On reaching the campus, Prof. Geoff and Dr Opinderjeet Takhar were warmly received and welcomed by Vice-Chancellor.&nbsp;On the occasion, Prof. Hardeep Singh, Prof. K. S. Kahlon and other senior officials from the university were also present. Commenting on the partnership&nbsp;Prof. Dr Jaspal Singh Sandhu&nbsp;said, \u201cIt\u2019s a proud moment for us to collaborate with the University of Wolverhampton&#8230; Our university has been a leading \u201cCategory-I\u201d university in India, and the University of Wolverhampton is a perfect match for us to increase our global presence. He said that with India being projected to become an economic superpower in the next couple of decades owing to its rich demographic dividend, the requirement of quality education provider in India is also on a tremendous rise. Prof. Sandhu said that with this in mind, University has also been constantly updating and improving its offering to the youth of the country with quality education and ever-changing industry requirement being the basics. The tie-up with the University of Wolverhampton is another milestone which University has achieved on its journey to become the torch bearer for Skill India mission, he added.&nbsp; Prof Geoff Layer, Vice-chancellor at the University of Wolverhampton, said: \u201cIndia is one of our region\u2019s biggest global partners and this agreement will further strengthen our ties with the country. We\u2019ve had a significant presence in India for many years and, during this time, we\u2019ve hosted a considerable number of students who have chosen to study at one of our campuses.&nbsp; He said that this partnership will focus on developing new business whilst enhancing the student and staff experience with exchange trips and research collaboration.\u201dHe said that we are happy to sign MoU with Guru Nanak Dev University. We look forward to a long and fruitful collaboration with different departments of Guru Nanak Dev University, which is among the best universities in India with a high research focus and diverse academic programs. Prof Geoff Layer also applauded the efforts of University-Industry cell of GNDU. Dr Opinderjit said the University of Wolverhampton is going to take the year-long celebration commemorating Guru Nanak Dev\u2019s 550<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;birthday to the entire world and invited GNDU to be a partner for the same. She further said that \u201cInterfaith Centre\u201d for the celebrations of the 550th birthday of Guru Nanak Dev will be set up at Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU). Besides, chairs of Guru Nanak Dev will be created in foreign universities.&nbsp;The centre will have a division of Guru Granth Sahib Languages. Divisions of Gurbani sangeet, comparative religions, travels of Guru Nanak Dev, Sikh archives, division of theology and symphony of religious music and convention centre will be part of the interfaith centre.&nbsp;Speaking on the occasion Dr Takhar said, \u201cThe centre has a broad horizon and university is already promoting religious studies at the Centre on Studies in Sri Guru Granth Sahib, Guru Nanak Dev University,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; According to Dr Bedi said that The University of Wolverhampton, one of the leading British varsities, is keen to work with us to upgrade education standards, create opportunities, build and strengthen business innovation. As our University already working with key international partners, the University of Wolverhampton is ready to play a leading role in this agenda.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; He said that the MoU will cover the scope of interaction among members of faculty relating to joint research projects, visits for such purposes and when necessary, joint applications for research funding from external funding agencies, Dr Bedi said. The two institutions will also explore the possibilities of collaborative Master\u2019s programm. It was also agreed that officials from both sides will hold further discussions to develop the early draft framework of Indo-UK education partnership. The University of Wolverhampton has been providing quality education for the past 180 years and with this partnership, we now hope to bring these internationally acclaimed and accepted programs to our Campus.
