{"id":149265,"date":"2019-06-08T19:07:35","date_gmt":"2019-06-08T19:07:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/punjabpost.in\/welcome\/?p=149265"},"modified":"2019-06-08T19:07:35","modified_gmt":"2019-06-08T19:07:35","slug":"capt-amarinder-urges-chief-justice-state-hc-set-fast-track-mechanism-rape-cases","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/punjabpost.in\/welcome\/149265","title":{"rendered":"CAPT AMARINDER URGES CHIEF JUSTICE OF STATE HC TO SET UP FAST-TRACK MECHANISM FOR RAPE CASES"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>ALSO ASKS CJ TO ADVISE SUBORDINATE COURTS TO COMPLETE TRIAL IN SUCH CASES SPEEDILY<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;Chandigarh, June 8 (Punjab Post Bureau) &#8211; &nbsp;Expressing concern over delay in trial of rape cases, Punjab Chief <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-146970 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/punjabpost.in\/welcome\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Captain-Amrinder.jpg\" alt=\"Captain Amrinder\" width=\"355\" height=\"288\" srcset=\"https:\/\/punjabpost.in\/welcome\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Captain-Amrinder.jpg 355w, https:\/\/punjabpost.in\/welcome\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Captain-Amrinder-300x243.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 355px) 100vw, 355px\" \/>Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Saturday urged the Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court Krishna Murari to put in place a fast track trial mechanism, and also advise the subordinate courts, under his jurisdiction, to complete trial of such cases speedily.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In a letter to the Chief Justice that comes a couple of days after the Sangrur police filed the chargesheet in the Dhuri\u2019s minor\u2019s rape case within seven days of the incident, Captain Amarinder said speedy trials were essential to ensure that all culprits in such cases are brought to justice at the earliest possible.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Captain Amarinder drew the attention of the Chief Justice towards amended provisions of Section 173 (1-A) of Criminal Procedure Code, wherein a time limit has been prescribed for investigation of the cases registered under Sections 376, 376-A, 376-B, 376-C, 376-D, 376-DA, 376-DB and 376-E of the Indian Penal Code.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The State Police had been time and again directed to ensure that investigation of cases involving such crimes, are completed within the prescribed limit, he wrote.
