Dr. Abhijit Dam was the National faculty for the course. The faculty from the college was Dr. Harjot Singh (Coordinator for Course), Dr. Paramjot Bindra and Mrs. Manpreet Kaur.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Dr. Dam said that the university has hosted their 1<sup>st<\/sup>Batch of Certificate Course in \u201cEssentials of Palliative Care\u201d in association with Indian Association of Palliative Careand with the introduction of this course the University has become the only university to start this course in North India.&nbsp; He said this course aims to inculcate the principals of Palliative Care to improve the patient care through proper communication &amp; effective management of physical symptoms. This program will help the practising doctors &amp; nurses in their day to day professional life. He said that this course is also important for the students because a deep understanding of the facts gathered by Palliative Care regarding the patient&#8217;s illness plays an important role in Clinical Care, with which Cancer, HIV AIDS, Mental Impairment, Stroke and the last-stage diseases can be tackled.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Dr. A.P Singh, Dean University said that the purpose of the university is not only to give medical education, but also to treat patients with ultra-modern techniques used in the field of medicine. Therefore, the University is committed to providing world-class education to the students. He said that after practicing this course, the students would be able to treat the patient as a whole by providing physical, psychological and spiritual support to alleviate the pain of the physically challenged patients. He informed that this course will be held two times in a year in the University.
