A `friendly\u2019 hockey match between the students of the Varsity and the Khalsa Hockey Academy was displayed on College\u2019s ground to mark the occasion, said Principal Dr. Kanwaljit Singh.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The day is celebrated world over under the aegis of International University Sports Federation (FISU), a Russia based body that aims to encourage university sports at international level. The motive behind the organising and celebrating the event was to highlight the importance of sports on University campuses and in general, said Dr. Kanwaljit Singh.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; He thanked PSU VC Lt. Gen (Rtd.) Jagbir Singh Cheema for choosing the College campus for organizing the event. He said the newly formed University under the leadership of Gen. Cheema aimed to promote sports culture in Punjab and outside apart from the focus upon sports education. \u2018Gen.
