The program was inaugurated by Dr. Mandeep Kaur, Professor Incharge, Department of Tourism and Hospitality of the University. She welcomed students and introduced the Resource Persons.<\/p>\n
On first day, Resource Persons of this program were Mayur Sud Managing Director, The Great Himalayan Adventure Studio and Amitpal Singh Training Development and HR Manager, Seven Seas hotel, Rohini, New Delhi. Mr. Mayur Sud introduced the students with Tourism Industry and also explained the current trends in this sector. He also shared his knowledge about the emerging concept of entrepreneurship. Mr. Amitpal Singh discussed the basics of hotel industry and also explained the importance of hotel management courses in present scenario.He emphasized the role of hospitality sector in development of economy.<\/p>\n
On second day, Dr. Arun Thakur, Assistant Professor UIHTM Panjab University Chandigarh, Mohit Guleria, Cluster Training Manager, The Radisson and The Park hotels Chandigarh and Mr. Rahul Narang, Housekeeping Manager, the Ritz Carlton by Marriot, Pune were the resource persons. Dr. Arun Thakur initiated the introductory session in which he addressed students about opportunities in the Tourism and Hospitality Industry. He assured students that Old Normal situation will be back soon and will bring more opportunities in future. This session was followed by Mr. Mohit Guleria who explained the on job training and management training opportunities. He also expressed his views regarding essentiality of grooming in industry. The session was further extended by Mr. Rahul Narang sharing his overseas experience and career opportunities in hospitality industry. He also conducted a virtual tour of The Ritz Carlton hotel. Resource persons made aware students with career opportunities in sectors apart from core areas of hospitality and tourism industry like in sales & marketing, HR, Airlines, Cruses, IRCTC, Government sector, Academics, Blogging, Abroad openings in hotels and many more. Revival of Hospitality & Tourism sector after the COVID-19 pandemic was also discussed.At the end of every session, various questions were asked by the students which were addressed efficiently by the experts.<\/p>\n
On final day, introduction session was conducted, where all students introduced themselves and faculty members Vikas Kumar, Mrs. Damanpreet Kaur, Ms. Sumeer Kaur also interacted with the students. During the valedictory session, Chef Harpreet Singh, Assistant Professor in the department shared his own experience and thanked the resource persons and students.
