D. from Department of Botanical and Environmental Sciences, Guru Nanak Dev University. The Young Scientist Award in Environmental Sciences was conferred upon Mr. Ajay Kumar, Research Scholar, Department of Botanical and Environmental Sciences, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.&nbsp;These awards&nbsp;have been instituted under MoU between Dr. Avinash Kaur (Professor Retd.) and Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Prof. Avinash Kaur Nagpal apprised that&nbsp;\u201cSardarni Darshan Kaur and Sardar Ram Singh Memorial Young Scientist Award in Plant Sciences\u201d&nbsp;was instituted&nbsp;to pay tribute to her parents&nbsp;and encourage the young researchers of plant sciences to explore new areas of research and publish their work in reputed journals. \u201cSardarni Kuldip Kaur and Sardar Gurmukh Singh Memorial Young Scientist Award in Environmental Sciences\u201d&nbsp;was instituted&nbsp;to pay tribute to her parent-in-law&nbsp;and encourage young researchers in the field of environmental sciences to explore new areas of environmental research and bring laurels to the university by publishing their work in reputed journals.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; On this occasion, Prof. Jatinder Kaur, Head of Department welcomed the guests and gave brief overview of achievements of the department. Professor Satwinderjeet Kaur, Coordinator of the event, introduced the Awardee.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The awards consisted of a certificate, a trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 10,000\/- . The Young Scientist Award in Plant Sciences was received by Sardar Amarjeet Singh, Father of Dr. Jaskaran Kaur, on her behalf. Prof. Sarabjot Singh Behl, Dean Academic Affairs presided over the function. He encouraged the researchers of the department to pursue research in the modern areas of plant sciences.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Prof Rajinder Kaur coordinated the stage and presented vote of thanks. Prof. Hardeep Singh, OSD to Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Harmohinder Singh Nagpal and Dr. Tejinder Kaur Nagpal of Hartej Nursing Home, Dr. Jagmeet Nagpal of Avimeet Dental Clinic and Dr. G.S.Virk (Retd. Prof.) graced the occasion with their presence.
