Amritsar, 20 June (Punjab Post Bureau) – Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (KCVAS), Amritsar had ![\"\"](\"https:\/\/punjabpost.in\/welcome\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/PPNJ2006202309.jpg\")
done a blood transfusion of a female 2 months old calf suffering from severe anaemia (2.98%) & was very serious. The calf was infected with mixed infection of haemoprotozoan disease of Theileria and Anaplasmosis which is very much common in cattle during summer mnths. After transfusion, the calf survived and is now recovering fast with hemoglobin > 7.00%. The calf was of the Livestock Farm Complex, KCVAS Amritsar.<\/p>\n
It is a major breakthrough treatment for saving the lives of calves which are the future dairy animals. The good no. of Calf, Pigs, Sheep, Goat, are reared at the LFC of the KCVAS for training the budding Veterinarians who all be joining the field as Veterinary Officers. The team was lead by Dr. Pawan Malhotra who did this procedure.<\/p>\n
Further, in a development KCVAS has organized training on the rationale use of Ultrasound for diagnosing the reproductive and other pathological conditions of the pet and large animals. The training was conducted by the Department of Surgery & Department of Gynaecology jointly in Veterinary Clinical Complex (VCC) under the leadership of Dr. V.K Gandotra, Dr. G.Dhanan Jaya Rao and Dr. P.S Mavi Director VCC for field practising Veterinarian.<\/p>\n
