Amritsar, July 8 (Punjab Post Bureau) – A special NSS summer camp was organized at Khalsa College of veterinary ![\"\"](\"https:\/\/punjabpost.in\/welcome\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/PPNJ0807202307.jpg\")
and Animal Sciences (KCVAS) in which 96 NSS volunteers and 12 invitees participated.\u00a0Chief guest Principal KCVAS Dr. HK Verma imparted a powerful speech of motivation emphasizing on the integral role of NSS activities by instilling essential social values and creating awareness regarding community services amongst the young people.<\/p>\n
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A talk titled \u201cKnow your Army\u201d was delivered by Dr. PS Mavi Director VCC KCVAS. He congratulated women NSS volunteers as the Government has approved women officers in the Army from this year. Dr. Manrajdeep Singh shared his knowledge of healthy eating habits with students and he emphasized the detrimental effects of consuming junk and packaged foods and highlighted the dangers of antibiotic residues in food.<\/p>\n
The second day commenced with an inspiring lecture by Dr. Neeraj Sharma, Professor and Head of Department of Transfusion Medicine, GMC Amritsar on the topic ‘Importance of Voluntary Blood Donation’. Dr. Sharma motivated the students to act selfless for service to others. A total of 42 NSS volunteers donated blood with assistance of 2 paramedics and staff accompanying Dr. Neeraj Sharma.<\/p>\n
Major \u00a0(Dr.) Vikramjit Singh Retd. (Senior Resident in Government Medical College) spoke on \u201cFirst Aid and Management of Sports Injury\u201d and Yoga sessions by Dr. J.K Khajuria (NSS Incharge KCVAS) was also arranged which was followed by Meditation. Dr. P.N Dwivedi Spoke on \u201cRole of extracurricular activities in personality development\u201d and laid emphasis on exploring their interests and passions outside the classroom. A basketball match was also organized.<\/p>\n
Dr. Davinder Singh from GNDU spoke on \u201cHealthy mind and Stress free living\u201d. He encouraged students for having\u00a0a positive attitude and adapt to a new perspective to look at a problem. For a break a song competition was held. Samreen Sandhu bagged the 1st prize followed by Zoraver and Ramanpreet who won 2nd and 3rd prize respectively.<\/p>\n
