Amritsar, August 12 (Punjab Post Bureau) –\u00a0Department of Botanical and Environmental Sciences of Guru Nanak \"\"Dev University organized fruit tree plantation drive, the Faculty, Non-Teaching Staff and Students and Research Scholars of the department planted and adopted more than 40 saplings of fruit trees in front of the Department.<\/p>\n

The event was organized to create awareness among masses to plant fruit trees for good health, to save micro biome, birds, and insect diversity. The soil of Punjab is suitable for growth of Mango, Litchi, Guava, Pomegranate, Papaya, Anjeer, Sapota, Grapes, and Citrus fruit varieties. This drive will also motivate farmers to adopt sustainable agricultural practices in Punjab.<\/p>\n

In this event, Prof. Rajinder Kaur Head explained the importance of growing fruit trees to students and research scholars. Mr. Shaukat research scholar of the department assisted the students for plantation.\u00a0 The faculty members of the Department\u00a0viz<\/em>. Prof. Satwinderjeet Kaur, Prof. M.S Bhatti, Dr. Astha Bhatia, Dr. Nitika Kapoor, Dr. Mayank D.
