Medical Sciences & Research Vallah Sri Amritsar, organized a significant event to commemorate World Thalassemia Day. This program saw enthusiastic participation from MBBS, Nursing and Physiotherapy students, as well as numerous patients affected by thalassemia and their families.<\/p>\n
The organization hosted a series of engaging activities, including talent shows, role plays, poster-making and storytelling competitions, specifically designed for children battling thalassemia. These events aimed to uplift the spirits of the young participants, providing them with a platform to showcase their creativity and talents. To further encourage their efforts, prizes were awarded to the winners, celebrating their achievements and fostering a sense of accomplishment among the children.<\/p>\n
A distinguished group of individuals gathered, including the renowned Punjabi singer, writer and actor Mr. Bir Singh, Dr. Shuriti Kakkar from the Department of Hemato-Oncology at Dayanand Medical College Ludhiana and motivational speaker Dr. Anupama Gupta. The event also featured Miss Neelu Gupta, the titleholder of Miss India Medico Diva, along with Miss Nikita Puri, known for her contributions to Punjab’s Jaitu Awaz. Additionally, Mr. Ashwani Soni President of Parupkar NGO social media influencer Mrs. Sandeep Kaur and social worker and industrialist Mr. Ashish Chopra were present, showcasing a diverse assembly of talent and dedication to social causes.<\/p>\n
Dr. Gursharan Singh Narang General Secretary of the SGRD Thalassemia Welfare Society, emphasized the importance of raising awareness about thalassemia during the annual celebration of “World Thalassemia Day” at Sri Guru Ram Das Charitable Hospital Valla, Sri Amritsar. He highlighted that approximately 220 children from various districts in Punjab are affected by this condition, which prevents them from producing their own blood from birth. These children require blood transfusions once or twice a month and those in need of bone marrow transplants receive guidance after HLA matching. The hospital is equipped with the latest facilities to treat thalassemia patients and under the expert supervision of Dr. Shruti Kakkar and Dr. Preeti Malhotra essential treatments, medications and blood management services are provided at no cost, ensuring that families do not face financial burdens during their children’s care.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
