Amritsar, Nov. 28 (Punjab Post Bureau)- The two-day long deliberations during Fourth International Conference of Global Educational Research Association (GERA) at Khalsa College of Education (KCE) which concluded today focused upon `education beyond the classrooms\u2019. The experts from various universities and colleges and top think tank from National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) said `future classrooms\u2019 would not be confined merely to four walls of buildings but would be blending of various resources.<\/p>\n
More than 300 research papers were presented in the Conference from all over India and abroad. NCTE President, Dr.Santosh Panda in his keynote address emphasized on the `new education\u2019 which is based on the `wider basket of resources-oriented learning. Dr.BK Passi, President, GERA, highlighted the vision and mission\u00a0of the association and the theme of the global conference. He said in this age of technology, the\u00a0whole globe has become like an open classroom.<\/p>\n
Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC) President Satyajit Singh Majithia who presided over the opening session of Conference said in the new way of learning, the academicians, educationists, researchers,\u00a0teachers and students have an open interaction through online and offline digital media and resources so the very nature of imparting instruction is changing.<\/p>\n
KCGC honourary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina said education play significant role in nation building. They along with Principal Dr.JS Dhillon earlier honoured the guests speakers. Two eminent scholars Dr. JN Joshi, Former Chairperson, NRC-NCTE and Dr. SKThakur, Former Chairperson, NCTE were conferred upon the Life Time Achievement Awards during Conference. Dr. Dhillon said they were thankful to GERA and NCTE for choosing College as venue for the Conference.<\/p>\n
He said there was a dire need to reshape and redesign the present teaching learning system in the\u00a0wake of global technological developments. Prof. SK Bawa, President (HQ),\u00a0GERA said that GERA has already organized three conferences including one at Kathmandu University, Kathmandu and Royal Bhutan University, Bhutan on the issue and added that the deliberations would bring a revolutionary change in the\u00a0concept of classroom teaching.<\/p>\n
Eminent scholars including Dr.Vladimir Petrov from Russia, Dr.RS Bawa VC,\u00a0Chandigarh University Chandigarh, Prof. PK Sahoo from University of Allahabad, Allahabad, Dr.\u00a0Haneet Gandhi, University of Delhi, Prof. U C Vashistha, University of Lucknow,\u00a0Prof. SP Malhotra, Consultant MHRD, Prof. Renu Nanda, University of Jammu, Dr. Amit Kauts, Dean, Faculty of Education, GNDU, Amritsar, Dr.Darshna Sharma, University of\u00a0Jammu, Jammu, Dr. AKAwasthi Director, Central University, Saugor, Dr. Mahesh Chandra Gupta,\u00a0UGC, Dr. Akanksha Singh, University of Allahabad, Dr. Sadashiv Shivram Chaugule,\u00a0Dr. Vijaya V.
