Amritsar, Mar. 17 (Punjab Post Bureau)-\u00a0The\u00a0Inter-Departmental\u00a0Cultural Competitions\u00a0Jashan-2016 of the Guru Nanak Dev University Campus has begun here today at the Dasmesh Auditorium with great enthusiasm. As many as 600 Student-artists of the various Departments of the University are participating in this four-day event which would be concluded on March 20.<\/p>\n
Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ajaib Singh Brar\u00a0inaugurated\u00a0these competitions by lighting the candles.\u00a0Prof. A.S. Sidhu, Dean, Students Welfare welcomed the chief guest and others. Dr. Gurpreet Kaur, Head, Music Department and Director Life Long Learning Department and Dr. Raminder Kaur, Professor Incharge (Publication) were also present.<\/p>\n
Prof. Brar while inaugurating the JASHAN blessed the student-artists and appreciated their hard work. He said that student should participate this type of activity alongwith their formal studies to develop their confidence and over all personality. University is committed for the upliftment of culture and heritage, so more cultural events by the prominent personalities would be organized in near future.<\/p>\n
During these four days, the student-artists from various department of the University would participate in 21 cultural competitions in the domains of Dance, Music, Fine Arts, Literary and Theater.\u00a0On the opening day, JASHAN started with the Shabad\/Bhajan and the competitions of Geet\/Gazal, Western Vocal, Folk Song, Debate, Extempore, Collage, Cartooning, Rangoli, Poster Making and On the Spot Photography were held.\u00a0\u00a0On second day i.e. March 18 the competitions of\u00a0 Bhangra, Creative Dance and Western Dance would be organized. Notanki, Mime, Mimicry and Skit competitions would be held on March 19 and on the concluding day the competitions of Dance to Tune and Gidha followed by prize distribution would be held.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
