<\/p>\nNew Delhi, January (Punjab Post Bureau)\u00a0 – There is a clear vacancies in Lok Sabha from 2 – Amritsar Parliamentary Constituency of Punjab, which need to be filled up:<\/p>\n

After taking into consideration various factors like, festivals, electoral rolls, etc., the Commission has decided to hold bye-elections to fill the vacancy as per the Schedule given below: –<\/p>\n

Last Date of Withdrawal of candidatures \u00a0– 21.01.2017 (SAT)<\/p>\n
Date of Poll\u00a0 \u00a0– 04.02.2017 (SAT)<\/p>\n
Date of Counting \u00a0– 11.03.2017 (SAT)<\/p>\n
Date before which election shall be completed \u00a0– 15.03.2017 (WED)<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n ELECTORAL ROLL<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Electoral Roll with reference to 01.01.2017 have been finally published on 05.01.2017 in the State of Punjab.<\/p>\n ELECTRONIC VOTING MACHINES (EVMs)<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Commission has decided to use EVMs in the bye-election in all the polling stations. Adequate numbers of EVMs have been made available and all steps have been taken to ensure that the polls are conducted smoothly with the help of these machines.<\/p>\n IDENTIFICATION OF VOTERS<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In consonance with the past practice, the Commission has decided that the voter\u2019s identification shall be mandatory in the aforementioned bye- elections at the time of poll. Electoral Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) shall be the main document of identification of a voter. However, in order to ensure that no voter is deprived of his\/her franchise, if his\/her name figures in the Electoral Rolls, separate instructions will be issued to allow additional documents for identification of voters at the time of poll in the said bye-elections.<\/p>\n MODEL CODE OF CONDUCT<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Model Code of Conduct shall come into force with immediate effect in the district(s) in which the whole or any part of the Parliamentary Constituency going for bye-elections is included, subject to partial modification as issued vide Commission\u2019s instruction No. 437\/INST\/2012\/CC&BE, dated 26th<\/sup> April, 2012 (available on the Commission\u2019s website). The Model Code of Conduct shall be applicable to all candidates, political parties and the State Government.
