Prof. S.S. Dhillon, Registrar presided over the valedictory session. Prof. Dhillon in his valedictory address shed light on the various challenges being faced by the higher education in the present scenario. Expressing his deep concern over the increasing number of students opting for higher education abroad, he labelled it as one of the major challenges for all the stakeholders. Firstly it is the duty of the teachers of today to rise to the occasion and to amend the syllabi and curricula in consonance with the rapid changes in order to prevent the younger generation from going abroad for higher education. One of the major challenges is to get rid of malaise, he opined. All the stakeholders need to put their act together to bring the quality of higher education in the country at par with international standards, so that the brain drain in the form of young generation is halted, he continued. And the sooner, the better, he emphasized. We haven’t managed to establish a system of higher education even after seven decades of independence, which genuinely meets the aspirations of our youth, he rued. He concluded his address by exhorting the young faculty members to shoulder this responsibility to the best of their abilities in order to do full justice not ony to their profession, but also to the society at large.<\/p>\n
