This Symposium was organized by the department of chemistry of the university in association with University Grants Commission, New Delhi. A large number of Scientist from all over India were participated and presented their research paper in the area of Chemical Sciences. In the inaugural session, Prof. N.S. Tung, Dean Academic affairs inaugurated the first session. The world known scientist Dr. Ayyappanpillai Ajayaghosh, Distinguished Scientist &amp; Director, CSIR-NIIST Trivandrum was the Chief Guest. Dr. Subodh Kumar, Coordinator of Symposium welcomed the chief guest and others. Dr. Manoj Kumar, Chairman of the Symposium presented vote of thanks.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In his inaugural address, Dr. Ajayaghosh \u00a0emphasized that to enhance the quality of \u00a0science, Young students must be encouraged to take interest in the latest research topics. He described the role of \u03a0- systems as functional dyes and fluorophores. The molecular assemblies containing\u00a0\u03a0- conjugated systems serve as specific probes important for medical science and security applications. He said that fluorescence is one of the most sensitive properties of conjugated aromatic systems and can be significantly perturbed by self- assembly of molecules. He said that fluorescent gelator encapsulated with in a polymer matrix undergoes reversible fluorescence color change upon heating and subsequent \u00a0exposure to an appropriate solvent vapor. He said that latest results illustrate the use of a water responsive florescent molecular assembly as security labels for the protection of currency and documents.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Another renowned scientist Dr. Arun K Sinha , Chief scientist and prof. CSIR- Central Drug Research institute \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0lucknow presented his research highlights on synthesis of flavoring compound and other compound similar to natural products important for medicinal science. He described pot economy synthesis with balance in expenditure of time labor and cost. Dr. A.K.
