This Campaign has the blessings of Ministry of Public Health &amp; Family Welfare, Tata Memorial Hospital, Mirchandani Charitable Trust, Rotary Club &amp; several other leading NGOs. Now, on \u201cWorld No Tobacco Day 2017\u201d a mega event is being organized to create awareness about the subject in the evening hours at Lokhandwala Gardens, Andheri (West),Mumbai on May 31, 2017, where more than 50 Lion Clubs including 40 schools and colleges are participating in the presence of politicians, dignitaries and film celebrities. Lion Sudhir Mangar who has initiated this project said, \u201cWe have to create awareness of the fact that tobacco is one of the primary causes of cancer and heart attacks. The young generations are getting addicted to tobacco in various forms which has an adverse effect on their health. The chemical constituents in cigarettes have a detrimental effect on everything: from the body\u2019s immunity to the functioning of the organs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Certainly, the entire Team of organizers needs to be congratulated for their selfless efforts towards this noble cause of Quit Tobacco &amp; Prevention of Cancer. Every year on May 31 the \u2018World No Tobacco Day\u2019 (WNTD) &#8211; an initiative of the World Health Organization (WHO) since 1987,\u00a0\u00a0 is observed around the world. The day is intended to encourage a 24-hour period of abstinence from all forms of tobacco consumption around the globe.
