Amritsar, February 20 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The two-day-long 5th `Inter-Khalsa Colleges Youth Festival 2020 today began to a colourful start at Khalsa College for Women (KCW), here. The festival will witness the competitions including fine arts, poetry, debates, folk song, geet/gazal singing, group shabad/ bhajan recitals, histonics, mono acting, skit, poster-making, debate, extempore, kawishri, mimicry, painting, poster making, cartooning and others.
While inaugurating the festival, Khalsa College Governing Council honouray secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina said the two-day long festival will have hundreds of students from 13 Khalsa Colleges participating and competing in at least 25 items. He welcomed the students who had arrived from all over the state saying that the youth festival was started five years back to provide the students an opportunity to showcase their talent.
This is an in-house program envisaged following the Khalsa institutions increasing manifold in the recent years. The festival, he said will help to polish the students’ skills to compete in other inter-colleges and even inter-university youth festivals. The KCW campus was tastefully decorated for the festival where students donning unique cultural attires and symbols, sets the ball rolling for the spectacle.
Principal KCW Dr. Manpreet Kaur welcomed the guests and said that the festival isn’t just an assemblage of students but also a platform for sharing ideas and thoughts, promoting art and culture, while manifesting a zest of friendliness and liveliness amongst themselves. KCGC joint secretary Jagdish Singh, Principal Dr. Mehal Singh, Dr. Surinder Pal Dhillon, Dr.Jaspal Singh, Dr. Harpreet Kaur, Dr. Manju Bala, Dr.Kamaljit Kaur, Dr.Kawaljit Singh, Dr.SS Sidhu, Dr. Inderjit Singh Gogoani, Principal AS Gill, Gurjit Singh Sethi, and Puneet Nagpal faculty, staff and others were present during the festival.
The judges in the program included Satinder Pukhraj, Dr. Rajesh Sharma, Dr. Ravjot Kaur, Atul Mehra, Monika Salariya, Shaifali, Mansi, Dr. Shelly Jaggi, Dr. Paramjit Kaur, Dr. Naresh, Vijay Sharma, Dr. Jagdish Sachdeva, Meenu Sharma, Dr. Rashmi Nanda, Dr. Rimpy Aggarwal, Jobanpreet Kaur, Navjeet Singh Dhaliwal and Dr. Harjit Singh.
