DC, CP Thank Khalsa Management for Covid-19 Relief Material
Amritsar, April 28 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC) today donated 20,000 masks and 2,000 sanitizers to the district administration here as relief material to fight the deadly Covid-19 disease. The material is meant for the use of the front soldiers including the police and medical staff and the farmers who are bringing the Rabi crop to the grain markets.
KCGC honouarry secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina handed over the relief material to Deputy Commissioner Shivdular Singh Dhillon and Commissioner of Police Dr. Sukhchain Singh Gill. They reached the Khalsa College campus here to receive the commodities. DC Dhillon said that wearing of the masks is compulsory and there was a shortage of the material and such donation would help the administration to fight the Coronavirus.
KCGC-run Khalsa institutions’ Principals and the Society itself had earlier donated Rs. 10 Lakhs to PM Cares Fund and only last week gave 21000 masks and 2100 sanitizers to the district administration. Chhina who praised the district administration officials for the brave fight against the virus, said the material was prepared by the students and teachers from various Khalsa institutions.
He said the masks and sanitizers were of high quality which will be used by the district authorities in their fight against the Covid-19. “The staff and students were given the raw material including clothe and they put intense labour to prepare the masks. The Khalsa College of Pharmacy has prepared the sanitizers”, said Chhina.
He said the there is also an offer from the staff members to donate one day salary which will be accordingly made available for the relief work. He added that the Khalsa institutions were at the forefront to help the administration and the general public in the war against the deadly Coronavirus disease and we should all join hands to ward off the virus.
DC Dhillon and Dr. Gill meanwhile thanked the Khalsa management for the donations and said more such organizations in the city must come forward to make such donations and help the state government to fight the Covid-19. They said they want to distribute the masks to the farmers bringing wheat to the grain markets these days to protect them from the virus spread.
Chhina appreciated the efforts of district administration, the state and Central authorities especially Prime Minister Narendera Modi for taking stern measures to deal with the emergency situations arising from Covid spread. KCA Principal Dr. Mehal Singh, KCP Principal Dr. RK Dhawan, were present during the program.
