Constitution Day celebrated at GNDU

Amritsar, 28 November – (Punjab Post Bureau) – The School of Social Sciences and Department of Sociology of the Guru Nanak Dev University celebrated the Constitution Day here today with the guidance of worthy Vice- Chancellor Dr. (Prof) Jaspal Singh Sandhu. As many as 200 students from the School of Social Sciences, Department of Sociology and NSS volunteers participated in this online lecture through various online mediums.

           On this occasion a Special Online lecture on the theme “Preamble a Journey to Pursuit the Constitution and its Content” under the supervision of Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Head of the Department. For this lecture, Dr. Bimaldeep Singh, Associate Professor, Department of Laws showed his valuable presence as the Resource Person.

         The online lecture began with a Welcome note by Dr. Nirmala Devi, Assistant Professor from Department of Sociology whereby she provided an introduction about the lecture.  Dr. Bimaldeep Singh presented his views about the importance of constitution in our day to day life where it guides us to fulfill our duties towards the nation while enjoying our rights. He highlighted the fact that constitution is not merely a static book but a living being which guides us to live our life with self respect and dignity. Apart from the moral and aesthetic value of the Constitution, he also threw light on the legal importance of it. He said that the constitution is the basis of judiciary and legal system of the country. 

           On this occasion Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Head of the Department, while sharing his views highlighted the fact that the rights provided by the constitution have found the basis of equality in the society whereby every section is live life with dignity. He said that it is only because of the developments laid by the constitution that such an event could be successfully conducted in times of the Covid Pandemic.
