Faculty Induction Programme for newly recruited faculty

Amritsar, Decmeber 2 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Chief Patron of UGC-Human resource Development Centre (HRDC), GNDU inaugurated the second faculty induction programme (FIP) of 2020, for newly inducted teachers in colleges and universities from all over India.

                 Prof, Sandhu stressed on the need for FIPs to prepare teachers for their professional duties. It was infact, due to his efforts, when he was Secretary UGC, that UGC planned toconduct faculty induction programmes to train newly recruited teachers in higher education.The programme is being attended by 39 participants from as many as21 different subject disciplines.

                Deputy Director, Dr. Rajbir Bhatti welcomed the Vice-Chancellor and took the participants through a virtual tour of university.  Inhis inaugural address, Prof. Sandhu hailed GNDU faculty members for their untiring efforts for their wholehearted support in conducting online classes. GNDU has emerged as the leader in these times when the pandemic is rampant, in conducting online classes, exams of exit classes, declaration of results. Prof Sandhu shared his passion for quality education and improving the green cover of the university. He has been the guiding light for HRDC in conduct of various training programmes including Short Term Courses, refresher Courses and Induction Programmes back to back.

                   Director, HRDC, Prof Adarsh Pal Vig thanked the Vice-Chancellor and told the participants about the new HRDC building and the state-of-the art facility created by GNDU for conducting the induction programmes and refresher courses. The newly recruited faculty will be acquainted with quality publications, funding opportunities, human rights, environmental ethics, blended teaching and learning,various modulesmof Gurudakshta.   HRDC is also conducting parallel Refresher course on Environment Conservation in which experts from IIT Bombay, IIT Ropar, IIT Gandhinagar, BHU Varanasi, Jawaharlal Nehru University New Delhi, Central University of Punjab, Panjab University Chandigarh, Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology Patiala, CSIR-Institute of Bioresource Technology Palampur, University of Hyderabad have shared their experience with participants from 11 different states of India from diverse background. In coming days, Winter School is scheduled to start from 4th December 2020 on theme of Sustainable growth in engineering science.
