22-year-old girl’s body repatriated from Dubai thanks to Dr. Oberoi’s efforts
Amritsar, January 5 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Dubai’s leading businessmen Dr. S.P Oberoi’s Charitable Trust Sarbat da
bhala is working tirelessly for those who have gone to the Gulf countries as laborers to improve the financial condition of their families by pledging their homes and lands.
Thanks to the tireless efforts of Dr. S.P Singh Oberoi Patron of the Trust Charitable Trust, the body of 22-year-old Meenu daughter Mangesh Kumar of Jalandhar city arrived at Sri Guru Ram Dass International Airport Amritsar from Dubai today.
Sharing the information, Dr. S.P Singh Oberoi founder of Sarbatt Da Bhala Charitable Trust said that Meenu had arrived in Dubai a month ago to work as a labourer in an attempt to improve his family’s financial situation. She died after falling ill.
He said that the Indian embassy had contacted him and informed that a girl belonging to Punjab had died in Dubai but nothing was known about her heirs.
He said that after gathering all the information about the girl, he contacted her only widowed mother living in Jalandhar with the help of police through the Doaba zone president of the trust Amarjot Singh and informed her about Meenu’s death.
He also said that according to the information he had received, Meenu had arrived in Dubai a month ago and a few days after her arrival she fell ill but instead of getting her treatment by the people who brought her here they did nothing. When the pressure mounted she was finally admitted to the hospital in critical condition, she died there. After which he completed all the necessary paperwork with the help of Indian Embassy and today brought the body of Meenu to punjab. The President of Amritsar Trust Sukhjinder Singh Heir General Secretary Manpreet Sandhu Finance Secretary Navjit Singh Ghai and Vice President Shishpal Singh Ladi received the body from the airport. Trust’s ambulance has been sent to Jalandhar. He further said that the trust would also bear the cost of transporting the body of the girl to the house, cremation etc. and due to the poor financial condition of the family, the widow mother would be given a monthly pension by the trust.
Dr. Oberoi said that he has so far handed over the bodies of 216 unfortunate people to their heirs. He appealed to the parents to send their children abroad only after a thorough investigation.
It may be recalled that in the absence of a family member while picking up the body of the girl at the airport today, everyone was watching the services being rendered by the staff of sarbat da bhala trust tears in their eyes for such philanthropy done by Dr. S.P Singh.
