Amritsar, January 31 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Martyr’s Day was observed at DAV Public School Lawrence Road with
reverence to mark the death anniversary of the father of the nation Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. On the unfortunate day of January 30, 1948 Gandhi ji was assassinated by Nathuram Godse. Lovingly called Bapu Mahatma Gandhi played a prominent role in India’s struggle for Independence. The teachers paid homage to the father of the nation by singing a patriotic song and by enlightening the students about the sacrifices made by this great leader. At 11.00 am the whole school observed silence for one minute as a remembrance to the martyred soul. The students pledged to imbibe in themselves the virtues of truth and non-violence.
Regional officer Punjab Zone–A Dr (Mrs.) Neelam Kamra and the manager of the school Mrs. Pushpinder Walia in their message to the students gave emphasis on following the ideologies of Mahatma Gandhi.
Principal of the school Mrs. Anita Mehra while paying rich tribute to the father of the nation insisted that following the ideals of truth, non violence and peaceful co-existence is the need of the hour today.
