Kapurthala, March 6 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Food Wing Kapurthala carried out checking of food business operators
of various categories including hotels, restaurants, sweet shops by the team led by assistant food commissioner Harjot Pal .
The wing has seized 8 samples namely Burfi, Petha, Prepared Chana, Prepared AlooTikki, Soya Sauce, Snack Sauce, Red Chilli Powder, Soda Water. Samples seized have been sent to State Food Laboratory, Kharar, Distt. S.A.S Nagar for analysis and report and strict action will be taken against the violators on the basis of the report.
Sweet shop owners are directed to ensure display of Best Before Date on their loose sweets lying in the containers/trays, so that customer/consumer can know till when a particular sweet can be used for human consumption. This is in accordance with the instructions issued by FSSAI which mandates businessmen associated with sweets to display Best before Date on loose sweets. If anyone found violating the order w.r.t. Best before Display, strict legal action in accordance with law will be initiated.
Besides that the eateries were instructed to ensure cleanliness of the premises, Proper personal hygiene of the workers, especially those involved in direct handling of food items, to ensure that they wear head gear, gloves, mask, nails should be properly trimmed. They also asked the shopkeepers that there should be separate facility of water for drinking purpose and water for cleaning of utensils.
Now, with the onset of summer season as the temperatures are rising, food stuff like milk and milk products, meat and meat products tend to deteriorate quickly with the growth of microbes. So, these items should be stored at suitable temperature.
