Wheat procurement started smoothly in Kapurthala
Kapurthala, April 11 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Kapurthala district witnessed smooth start of wheat procurement by government agencies today at grain market kapurthala and bholath as 170 MT wheat purchased by PUNGRAIN and MARKFED respectively.
In Kapurthala Senior MLA Rana Gurjit Singh initiated the procurement of wheat where PUNGRAIN procured 77 quintals of wheat from farmer Santokh Singh of village Kashochahal, while at Bholath Mandi MARKFED procured wheat from Raghubir Singh of village Bagwanpur and Bhalla Singh of village Bagwanpur.
Terming the acts of union Government as anti punjab , MLA Rana Gurjit Singh said that Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh would ensure procurement of every grain of the farmer’s crop in the state despite of the hurdles faced by the Union Government in procurement of wheat.
He said that the Punjab government had made great effort to implement the old system of wheat procurement which would help in maintaining the decades old alliance of artiyas and farmers.
District Food and Supply Controller Geeta Bisambhu and District Mandi Officer Arvinder Singh said that the arrival of wheat in the mandis in the district has already started and it is expected to accelerate in next few days.
He said that in all the 42 permanent and temporary mandis adequate arrangements have been made for the convenience of the farmers besides ensuring the protection from covid.
Prominent amongst present on the occasion included SDM Varinder Pal Singh Bajwa, Chairman Market Committee Avtar Singh, Artiya Association President Rajinder Kaura, Secretary Market Committee Sanjeev and District Managers of Procurement Agencies.
