Amritsar, April 16 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Dr. Preet Mohinder Singh Bedi, Professor Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Guru Nanak Dev University has been nominated as member “State Level Expert Appraisal Committee (SEAC) Punjab” by Ministry of Environment , Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, New Delhi. The Union Ministry of Environment and Forests released a gazette recently on the constitution of this committee.
He has been appointed in recognition of his outstanding contribution in the field of Pharmaceutical Sciences and drug research. As per the Environment (Protection) Act, the Central Government in consultation with the State Government of Punjab constituted the State Level expert Appraisal committee. This newly appointed SEAC will be for a term of three years. Prof Bedi the Joint Director of the environment department in the state will also be Member Secretary of the SEAC.
Dr Bedi has a bright academic career of 23 Years. He joined Department of Pharmaceutical Scienc Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar in 1997 as a lecturer and also did his Phd from this Department. While excelling in various academic and administrative stints, he subsequently rose to the position of Professor in 2012. He has been the Head of this Department for almost nine years and possesses excellent administrative skills.
He had been honoured with the Royal Society Fellowship, UK and was also conferred the “Best Educationist Award” for the year 2012. Dr Bedi also Recipient of “ Life time Education Achievement Award from International institute of Education and Management and also Recipient of prestigious “Eminent teacher Award” by Society of pharmaceutical Education & Research (SPER).Besides attending National & International conferences, he has contributed more than 90 publications to various reputed International & National journals. He also holds patents in the field of Pharmaceutical Sciences. As Coordinator, University Industry Linkage Programme he executed several MOUs and Collaborations with various National and International institutes.
It is important to me mention that to cater to the growing demand for a wide variety of active pharma ingredients and formulations cropped up during the COVID-19 pandemic, The Punjab government is going to set up three pharma parks in the state.
On the occasion of being appointed as member Dr. Bedi commented “This is an honour as much as a responsibility and I am thankful to the Government for the same”.
