Amritsar, April 18 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The residents of the Swiss Colonies fighting for development works had a sigh of relief when Mayor Karamjit Singh Rintu inaugurated the works to the tune of Rs.1.5 crores. He started the work for the potable water supply system in the all four Swiss City, Swiss Land, Swiss Green and Roseland Colonies falling on the byepass road.
Mayor who was earlier welcomed by the senior residents of the Colonies meanwhile said that construction of roads and pavement of streets, sewerage, street lights and sanitization issues will be addressed in the coming times. MLA of the area Tarsem Singh DC who could not attend the function today due to his busy schedule, had earlier promised funds from his MLA Development Fund.
The residents said they had been living in highly inhabitable conditions with no roads, water supply, cleanliness, street lights and proper maintenance works in the colonies, said Swiss Colonies Welfare Association President Kashmir Singh Khunda.
Chief Advisor of the SCWA Dr. Sukhdev Singh earlier welcomed Mayor and the officials of the Municipal Corporation and thanked them for the start of the works on the water supply. The resident hoped that other works would also be completed within the stipulated time as promised by the Mayor.
