Approval on important decisions by SGPC executive committee
Amritsar, June 19 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has decided to preserve precious historic treasury and relics at the Toshakhana (treasury house) of Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib (Golden Temple) by conducting their videography and photography.
Also, the residential complex of the granthi Singhs of Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib would be constructed in front of the Atta Mandi entrance, instead of the upper rooms in parikarma of Sri Darbar Sahib. The decision was taken at a meeting of the executive committee (EC) chaired by SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur here on Friday.
While talking to media after the EC meeting, SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur said, “The historical relics and treasury of Jalau (grandeur) decorated at Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib on the occasion of Gurpurbs, which are preserved in Toshakhana will be documented and preserved for future by videography and photography. Apart from this the Toshakhana would also be renovated and equipped with modern technology.”
Bibi Jagir Kaur said, “The EC has also decided to construct special residential quarters for head granthi and granthi Singhs of Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib, outside the parikarma. For this, the space in front of Atta Mandi side entrance will be used.”
Bibi Jagir Kaur said that soon a store of generic medicines would be opened near the Information Centre outside Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib so that the needy and poor people could get medicines at a cost price.
“For now, the store will be opened at Sri Darbar Sahib and later at Takht Sahibs and other Gurdwaras. Along with these stores, laboratories will also be set up”, said Bibi Jagir Kaur.
Taking strict cognizance of the immoral acts and violation of service rules and Sikh principles at Gurdwara Gangsar Sahib, Jaito, SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur said, “The executive committee has decided to immediately dismiss any employee found involved in any immoral act. After the immoral act by some employees of Gurdwara Gangsar Sahib, Jaito recently, the guilty employees were sacked immediately. For future, firm rule has been made that any employee found guilty of an immoral act or drug addiction will not be spared. Such an employee has no right to remain in the gurdwara management.”
She also said that the historic well of Gurdwara Gangsar Sahib Jaito would be cleaned and renovated as per requirement.
About another decision in the EC meeting Bibi Jagir Kaur said that the officers and employees of SGPC who are posted at responsible positions and who have been in the same position for more than 2 years would be transferred to bring better functioning in the management.
SGPC president said that EC has also decided to take legal action against the SS Kohli Associate. “Chartered Accountant SS Kohli’s firm has caused great loss to the organization, due to which, it has been decided to take legal action against the firm as well as start the process to get its license cancelled.”
Meanwhile, Bibi Jagir Kaur said that the SGPC had written to the Government of India to shift and add 35 Gurdwaras listed under Section 87 to Section 85, but till date, the government has not issued a notification till date. “SGPC will rewrite to the Ministry of Home Affairs of India so that these Gurdwaras can be maintained directly by the SGPC”, said Bibi Jagir Kaur.
Bibi Jagir Kaur said that training would be provided to the sewadars (servicemen) and other staff deputed at the sarais (inns) of Gurdwaras.
“Cooperation of Institute of Hotel Management, Catering and Nutrition, Gurdaspur would be sought for providing training to sewadars, who will be sent to this institute in batches, where they will receive training”, said Bibi Jagir Kaur.
She said that the SGPC would soon start new sarais for the pilgrims coming to the Sri Darbar Sahib.
Bibi Jagir Kaur said that a revenue committee of SGPC has been constituted to assess the lands of gurdwaras, Dharam Prachar Committee and other institutions under the management of the SGPC, which will submit its report to resolve and simplify the property matters.
On this occasion Bibi Jagir Kaur thanked the United Sikh Mission of United States of America (USA) for starting the work to install the solar power plant at Sri Darbar Sahib Complex.
SGPC president also expressed commitment for developing the hygienic steam kitchen system at Langar (community kitchen) Sri Guru Ramdas Ji.
Bibi Jagir Kaur also informed that SGPC is continuously providing its services for Covid vaccines and under this, third Free Covid Vaccine Camp would be started on June 19 at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, Sri Anandpur Sahib.
Meanwhile, the EC has also passed condolences resolutions with regards to the demise of former Jathedar Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti and former head granthi Giani Bhagwan Singh and paid homage to the departed souls by reciting the Moolmantra.
SGPC EC has also approved to display a portrait of Sant Dalbar Singh Chhiniwal, a member SGPC who had passed away in the recent past at the Central Sikh Museum.
