GNDU Faculty joins PLOS Water

Amritsar, July 25 (Punjab Post Bureau) – PLOS Water (Est. 2021) by Public Library of Science USA has invited Dr. M.S Bhatti Professor Department of Botanical & Environmental Sciences of Guru Nanak Dev University (https://orcid.org/0000-0002-4180-5812) to join as Academic Editor. The journal is headed by Professors of Stanford University USA & Edith Cowan University, Western Australia. https://journals.plos.org/water/

            Dr. Bhatti thanked Guru Nanak Dev University and specially Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice-Chancellor for excellent and conducive research culture so as to reach up to this position, where other Academic editors are from University of California Berkeley NASA, Imperial College London, IIT Patna. Dr. Bhatti expertise is in water and wastewater treatment and published more than 60 articles cited in 40 countries. As an academic duty, reviewing more than 400 research publications helped him in joining one of the open access journals in the domain of Water, Climate, Sustainability, Global Public health & Digital Health. The scope of PLOS Water to promote multidisciplinary research and facilitate collaboration between the interconnected fields of water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) and water resources.

             University is committed to sustainable development as envisaged by Prof. Sandhu with 100% reuse of treated wastewater, extensive tree plantation, electric buses for students and staff, rooftop solar harvesting are a few of initiatives. University is planning to install digital water monitoring at the Sewage Treatment Plant so as to optimize the water reuse. Recently, Punjab Pollution Control approved one additional ambient air monitoring station in GNDU as per guidelines of National Clean Air Programme (NCAP), which will start functioning shortly.
