Amritsar, July 31 (Punjab Post Bureau) – DAV Public School Lawrence Road paid homage to Shaheed Udham Singh
on his death anniversary which falls on 31st July. He was one of the foremost freedom fighters who fought against the British rule in India. The teachers read out excerpts from his inspirational life and saluted him for his immense courage and conviction to see the country free form the shackles of Britishers. The fateful day of Baisakhi i.e 13th April 1919, brought a turning point in his life and he pledged to take revenge from the Britishers. Udham Singh was influenced by Bhagat Singh and his revolutionary group and joined the agitation in full swing. On this occasion, the teachers sang patriotic song and recited poems highlighting his revolutionary life.
Regional Officer Punjab Zone –A Dr. Neelam Kamra and the Manager of the school Dr. Pushpinder Walia in their message said that one must take inspiration from the life of the great revolutionary and should stand for justice and fight against all evils to bring harmony in the society.
Mrs. Anita Mehra Principal of the school said that we must always keep in mind that the foundation of our freedom was laid on the sacrifices of many great leaders, freedom fighters and brave hearts like Shaheed Udham Singh. She advised everyone to stand for justice, brotherhood and imbibe good moral values.
